2026 Seeds of Knowledge Library Demonstration Garden Grant Award
The Tarpon Springs Public Library is pleased to announce that we received a grant award from the Florida Wildflower Foundation!
This grant award provides the Tarpon Springs Public Library with the opportunity to showcase a living example of a Florida native garden and to expand our Seed Library with native plants.
Come watch our garden grow! Our garden is located on either side of the Tarpon Fountain in front of the entrance to the library.
Many Hands Make Light Work. We worked with the Tarpon Springs Parks Department to prepare the site and to ensure adequate irrigation for establishing and maintaining the native plants. Wilcox Nursery and Landscape in Largo delivered the native plants. The Tarpon Springs Garden Club came out for planting day! We appreciate all their help in digging, planting the native seedlings, watering, and spreading the pine needle mulch.
Did you know? We established our Seed Library in April 2017 and have checked out over 10,000 seed packets of garden vegetables, herbs, and flowers, since that time. We are certain that our library guests will love the addition of Florida native seeds to our seed library.

What’s Next?
The Garden Club will also begin teaching workshops, starting with a Teacup Flower Arrangement workshop on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 AM. Participants will create a unique teacup floral arrangement, just in time for Mother’s Day. Sign up for this free program HERE.
This garden will provide an additional learning opportunity for the Tarpon Springs Gro Group, a hands-on learning program for adults with special needs, that meets weekly at the library. They will also help with maintenance of the garden.
Check the library calendar for additional upcoming learning opportunities.
